Sami Marouf Cleland is a corporate associate in the Century City office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm's Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice.

Mr. Cleland represents entertainment, media, and technology clients in transactions that involve the acquisition, financing, production, exploitation, and licensing of intellectual property and media-related assets. Mr. Cleland currently serves on the firm’s Asian & Middle Eastern Lawyers Group. 

Mr. Cleland received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Cleland was also a student attorney in the Conflict Mediation Clinic. 

Prior to joining Latham full-time, Mr. Cleland was a summer associate in the Century City office. He previously clerked for Judge Christina A. Snyder in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Cleland’s experience includes representing:

  • Content Partners in multiple M&A transactions
  • Endeavor in its US$21 billion merger of UFC and WWE
  • Blumhouse in its acquisition of Atomic Monster, the production company founded by filmmaker James Wan
