Ryan Zumwalt is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Corporate Department. Mr. Zumwalt advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and general corporate matters.

Mr. Zumwalt represents private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in domestic and cross-border transactions, including leveraged buyouts, carve-out acquisitions, controlling and minority investments, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations, and other strategic transactions across a variety of industries.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Zumwalt served as a law clerk for Judge Daniel P. Jordan III of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.

While in law school, he served as the managing editor of The Journal of Law and Politics, a Dillard Legal Research and Writing Fellow, and a judicial intern on the United States Court of Federal Claims. Before attending law school, Mr. Zumwalt worked in the Washington, D.C., office of an international law and public policy firm, focusing on healthcare policy.
