We mourn the loss of our friend and retired partner Bob Wessling, who passed away on January 31 at the age of 85. Bob was a trailblazer and had a profound impact on the firm throughout his 30-year tenure, including significant contributions to the growth of our Los Angeles office and finance practice. He will be dearly missed.
Robert B. Wessling retired from the Partnership on December 31, 1994. He was a member of the Finance Department for more than 40 years. He had considerable experience in real estate finance and workout transactions representing borrowers and lenders. He also was involved in numerous financings for corporate acquisitions, including tender offers and recapitalizations. In the latter part of his career, he was involved in assembling bank financing for the takeover bids of two major airline companies. In addition, he has been involved in numerous LBO financings for the nation's largest LBO company.
Mr. Wessling belongs to the American, Los Angeles County and California State Bar Associations. Since 1974 he has served on the Board of Governors of the Financial Lawyers Conference and is a past president of the Conference. He is also a Fellow, American College of Bankruptcy. Outside of the legal community, he was a member of the World Affairs Council, the Town Hall of Los Angeles, the Fraternity of Friends of Los Angeles and is a trustee of DePauw University. He was also an active member of the Westwood United Methodist Church.
