Maria del Pilar Villanueva is an associate in the Corporate Department of Latham & Watkins in Madrid. She focuses her practice on advising national and international clients from different industries on general corporate matters, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures, among other matters. She has also assisted companies on restructuring processes and corporate finance transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Villanueva completed a Law Degree and an LLM in International and Business Law at ESADE University in Barcelona, which she complemented with semesters at Freie Universität Berlin and University of Pennsylvania. She also interned in the top three Spanish law firms.

The experience of Ms. Villanueva includes advising:

  • Ecoener, a wind, hydro and photovoltaic energy operator, on its IPO for €100 million 
  • Wall Box Chargers, a Spain-based provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, in its business combination with Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp. II, a special purpose acquisition company, for US$1.5 billion
  • Telefónica in two joint ventures with KKR for the development of fiber optic networks in Colombia and Chile for approximately US$1 billion
  • Cathay Innovation, Drake Enterprises, and Seaya Ventures in the €450 million "Series F" financing round of Glovo
  • Nazca Capital in the sale of its 100% stake in Moldcom Composites (McBath) to The Engineered Stone Group
  • Inflexion Private Equity Partners in the acquisition of a 40% stake in Auxadi Contables & Consultores, a Spain-based accounting services provider
  • BBB Industries in the acquisition of M&R Precision Parts, a Spanish manufacturer of automotive components, from Abac Capital
  • KKR in the acquisition and IPO of Telepizza, S.A.
  • Cathay Innovation in the financing round of Medsavana, developer of an artificial intelligence application for the healthcare sector
  • Sun European Partners in the sale of Famosa, a Spanish toy designer, manufacturer, and distributor, to Italian company Giochi Preziosi
  • Platinum Equity in the acquisition of Grupo Ibérica de Congelados, S.A. from Portobello Capital
  • Solarpack, a Spanish multinational company specialized in the development of photovoltaic systems for solar energy production, in the listing of its ordinary shares on the Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia Stock exchanges
  • Dentsu Aegis Network, a global marketing and advertising agency, in the acquisition of the Spanish companies Animal Maker and Comunica+A
  • Teladoc in the acquisition of Advance Medical, a Spanish healthcare services provider
