Latham Named Mergers & Acquisitions Law Firm of the Year

John Karantonis is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Corporate Department. He is also a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Australia Practices.
Mr. Karantonis represents private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, as well as public and private companies, in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. He also advises private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies on a broad range of general corporate, securities laws, and corporate governance matters.
Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Karantonis worked in the New York office of another leading international law firm. He was also a mergers and acquisitions associate in a top tier Australian law firm based in Sydney, Australia.
Mr. Karantonis graduated 12th in his class at The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia and was listed in the Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance. Mr. Karantonis co-authored a paper with Professor David Carmichael of UNSW on pricing methodologies for real options analysis in the Journal of Financial Management of Property and Construction. In addition, he was co-coach of the teams representing UNSW at the 22nd and 23rd editions of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria.
