Los Angeles Counsel Honored for Long-Standing Pro Bono Service
Los Angeles counsel Peter J. Gutierrez was recognized by Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA), a public interest law firm that works to expand access to justice and address the needs of people living in poverty throughout Los Angeles, with its Volunteer of the Year award for his long-standing commitment to pro bono.
Gutierrez has worked with NLSLA for many years, and formerly served on the organization’s Board. His most recent pro bono work with NLSLA includes efforts related to the LA Metro’s East San Fernando Valley Light Rail project to ensure the Pacoima community — a predominately low-income community and one of the oldest neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles — receives economic benefits from the project, and that the impacts during construction are mitigated.
He also works with NLSLA on land use matters related to their proposed new Pacoima office project and Los Angeles’ proposed Transit Neighborhood Plan.
