At its anniversary gala celebration, Equip for Equality recognized Latham for its pro bono contributions. For 35 years, Equip for Equality has worked to advance the human and civil rights of children and adults with disabilities in Illinois.

Through Equip for Equality’s Special Education Clinic, lawyers in our Chicago office have offered pro bono support to a variety of young clients dealing with ADHD, diabetes, depression, autism, and social anxiety. Our lawyers represented families to school faculty and at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, ensuring that students received both proper evaluation and appropriate placement. Without legal intervention, these students, as well as other Equip for Equality clients, are in danger of failing to receive the education to which they are entitled.

One parent described the outcome of our lawyers’ work as a “total win,” noting that he was “willing to fly to the moon and back to share [his] success story.

We are honored to be recognized for our pro bono contributions, and congratulate Equip for Equality on its milestone anniversary. The work you do on behalf of individuals with disabilities in our community is outstanding and life-changing,” said partner Lisa Martin.
