Ing Loong Yang Named an Ambassador to ICC Court’s Belt and Road Initiative Commission

The International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Court) has appointed Latham arbitration and complex commercial litigation partner Ing Loong Yang as an Ambassador to the ICC Court’s Belt and Road Initiative Commission. The commission will explore, support, and promote dispute resolution opportunities at the ICC Court arising from China’s international development strategy to stimulate economic growth. Launched in 2013, China’s Belt and Road Initiative particularly focuses on increasing trade and infrastructure investment among 70-plus countries throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa.

The ICC, headquartered in Paris, serves as a leading arbitral institution with secretariats or national committees in more than 100 jurisdictions around the world. Many of these jurisdictions lie on the Belt and Road route. The ICC aims to provide effective dispute resolution services to all parties involved in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which will likely develop at least an estimated US$900 billion in projects.

Yang’s practice focuses on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation in Asia, including cross-border disputes involving Greater China. He has represented clients in numerous international arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, as well as in the Hong Kong courts. Among his honors, Yang was recently named to China Business Law Journal’s A-List.
