Latham & Watkins ranks #1 by deal value for European M&A in the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest legal advisor rankings published by Refinitiv, a global provider of financial markets data formerly published by Thomson Reuters. Refinitiv reported that Latham advised on 36 transactions worth more than US$38 billion.
Latham also topped the table by deal value in Germany and tied for first in Spain, advising on many of the most significant private equity and corporate transactions, including:
- Representing Hellman & Friedman and Blackstone in the acquisition of Scout24, the largest European buyout of 2019 to date
- Advising ZF Friedrichshafen AG on the US$7 billion acquisition of WABCO, the largest international acquisition by a European company
- Advising a consortium composed of funds advised by Triton, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), on the US$2.51 billion acquisition of IFCO
The rankings demonstrate Latham’s continued track record in a significant number of large-scale transactions throughout Europe and around the world. In 2018, the firm handled more than US$618 billion in announced mergers and acquisitions transactions globally, representing principal entities or financial advisors in more than 500 public and private transactions.
