Latham New York Associate Receives 2018 Cornerstone Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services

November 26, 2018

Chirag Dedania, an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins, has received the 2018 Cornerstone Award for his outstanding pro bono legal services to nonprofits from the Lawyers Alliance for New York, the leading provider of business and transactional legal services for nonprofit organizations and social enterprises that are improving the quality of life in New York City neighborhoods.

Since 2015, Dedania has volunteered his services to several Lawyers Alliance partners, including working with the Natural Areas Conservancy to create commercial and funding contracts that improved green spaces and public recreation areas in New York; assisting, an organization that brings together education-stakeholders to improve outcomes through learning tools for New York City’s youth, by developing a model agreement for the organization’s future third-party partnerships; and helping Carl’s Butterflies, an organization that supports children and youth with critically ill family members, with a marketing agreement.

Dedania said: “As a transactional attorney, it is difficult to find meaningful opportunities to contribute to the community via pro bono. Lawyers Alliance has made the process incredibly easy and has connected me with a variety of rewarding opportunities. I’m grateful to have worked with a number of remarkable organizations and look forward to finding new ways to help the New York community.”
