Latham & Watkins has been named a 2020 Champion for Children by Children’s Law Center (CLC). This record-making win marks the firm’s fourth consecutive and sixth overall win, preserving Latham’s status as the most awarded firm in Champions for Children history.
The annual award recognizes the philanthropy of law firms and corporations whose total annual giving to CLC exceeded that of their peers. The Champions for Children Campaign is led by the CLC’s Board of Advisors as well as its Board of Directors, on which Latham partner Manu Gayatrinath sits.
“Latham & Watkins is proud to support the Children’s Law Center’s Champions for Children campaign,” said Dan Lennon, Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. “We highly value our partnership with Children’s Law Center, whose work to ensure that every child has a stable family, good health and quality education furthers racial equity and makes a lasting impact on our local community.”
“Latham & Watkins’ record-making Champions for Children win demonstrates the firm’s determination to make D.C. a more equitable community,” said CLC Executive Director Judith Sandalow. “They stepped up during the pandemic to advocate for healthy housing conditions for children stuck at home day in and day out. We are honored to name them a Champion for Children and to have them as a significant pro bono partner. CLC would not be able to help more than 5,000 D.C. kids every year without the support of outstanding firms like Latham.”
CLC is Washington, D.C.’s largest nonprofit legal services provider. CLC fights so every DC child can grow up with a stable family, good health and a quality education. Today, the organization reaches one out of every nine children in DC’s poorest neighborhoods — more than 5,000 children and families each year.
