Latham & Watkins advised on two deals honored in the 2018 Asia Legal Awards hosted by The Asian Lawyer, which celebrate “achievement, excellence and innovation in the legal profession.” The awards seek to “identify the most important transactions and cases with the most complex and outstanding legal work in Asia,” according to the publication.

The firm earned recognition for its role in the following “Deals of the Year”:

  • PT Bumi Resources' US$4.5 billion global debt restructuring, which was named Finance Deal of the Year: Insolvency and Restructuring. Latham advised select lenders on the transaction.
  • Nord Anglia Education’s US$4.3 billion privatization, which was named Private Equity Deal of the Year. Latham advised Nord Anglia Education on the transaction, which involved the sale of their network of schools in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, to a consortium led by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Baring Private Equity Asia.
