JP Brisson, a partner in the firm’s Environment, Land & Resources Department where he serves as Global Co-Chair of the Environmental Regulation & Transactions Practice, has been named by The National Law Journal (NLJ) as an Environment & Energy Trailblazer in the publication’s annual Environment & Energy Trailblazers report, recognizing professionals who have moved the needle in the legal industry and professionals who are truly Trailblazers.

NLJ highlighted Brisson’s trailblazing career in the industry in a profile article, noting his early work on climate change that helped shape the market for carbon credits. Brisson was also recognized for his representation of community developer Five Point Holdings in the Newhall Ranch project in Los Angeles County, the first carbon-neutral “city” in North America, in developing a first-of-its-kind climate-neutral mitigation plan to reduce or mitigate all of the project’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Brisson is ranked nationally and globally and advises oil and gas, power, industrial, and financial institution clients on a wide range of energy and environmental matters, including carbon capture and sequestration and carbon neutrality.
