Latham’s strengths in high-stakes transactional matters and disputes were highlighted in the inclusion of corporate partner Joseph Calabrese and litigation & trial partner Daniel Wall in the annual Top 100 Lawyers in California report published by the Daily Journal.
Calabrese, the Global Chair of Latham’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice, was recognized for his deal making prowess – including ongoing advice to sports organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, and his representation of entertainment industry leaders ranging from upstart studios to stalwarts such as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which he recently advised in a new eight-year agreement with NBS to broadcast the Golden Globe Awards through 2026. His published profile noted that Calabrese “regularly taps past experiences when advising his clients. When his hand isn’t in sports, it’s in the movie industry.”
Wall, a leader in the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice, was cited for helping build the group “by taking on complicated cases that set the standard for competitive business practices.” In his profile, he was specifically recognized for recent work advising high-profile technology clients in cases involving consumer class actions, merger reviews, government and internal investigations, and “the tricky intersection of antitrust laws and high-tech innovation for big-name clients.”
The Top 100 report features lawyers in private practice and the public sector who have made a significant impact during the past year. Both Latham partners have appeared on the list in previous years.
