Hong Kong

Latham’s Asia offices work as one team, bringing together elite capabilities across practices and industries, native language and cultural knowledge, and on-the-ground support throughout the region.

Office Overview

Serving clients from the major financial, commercial, and regulatory hubs of Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo — we seamlessly integrate through Latham’s global platform to deliver sophisticated counsel and representation to clients on their most complex and consequential matters in Asia and around the world.

With a seasoned understanding of Asia’s local and regional markets, we bridge jurisdictions, languages, time zones, and business cultures for clients operating anywhere in the region. We represent dynamic private equity funds, financial institutions, and direct lenders, multinational and government-linked corporations, as well as emerging companies active in Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Latham’s Asia-based lawyers rank among the very top practitioners in the region. We regularly advise on the most transformative capital markets offerings, private equity, and M&A transactions in every major jurisdiction. We guide multinationals through the increasingly complex web of anti-money laundering, sanctions, and export controls regimes. We represent sponsors and lenders in the region’s landmark project finance matters and infrastructure projects. And increasingly, we advise on the emerging ESG and sustainability issues affecting companies with operations in Asia.

Lauded as the “Most Innovative Firm in the Asia-Pacific” by the Financial Times, our diverse Asia team connects clients in the financial services, infrastructure, energy, media, and technology industries to world-class legal services in the region and to the full complement of Latham lawyers around the globe.

Giving Back

Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities

A multi-office team of Latham & Watkins lawyers and professional staff from across the firm’s offices globally conducted extensive research to prepare the 2016 edition of the “Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities” report. Conducted in conjunction with the Pro Bono Institute (PBI), the unique report is an essential resource for local practitioners, in-house teams and non-profits on pro bono practices around the world.
