Profile

Alex Cox is an associate in the Litigation & Trial Department in the London office of Latham & Watkins. He has a broad practice covering complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and contentious regulatory investigations.

Mr. Cox acts for clients in a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on financial institutions. He has acted for banks, multilateral institutions, and payments technology companies in complex disputes, as well as in large-scale investigations by global regulators, including the Financial Conduct Authority, the Serious Fraud Office, the Payment Systems Regulator, and the Charity Commission in the UK, and the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the US.

Mr. Cox has acted on a dispute before the AIM Disciplinary Committee for alleged misleading statements made to the market. He has also advised clients in connection with intellectual property disputes – including acting for a client in taking action against a sophisticated media piracy operation – and on issues relating to anti-money laundering and anti-bribery legislation.

Mr. Cox has completed secondments at a leading UK bank and an international tobacco company. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in September 2015, he gained experience in the real estate, financial services litigation, and corporate finance practices of a global firm.
