Anuj Ghai is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Global Antitrust and Competition Practice in London.

Mr. Ghai represents international companies before the European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority in a wide range of competition law matters, in particular merger control and antitrust compliance. He has extensive experience assisting clients in obtaining UK and EU merger clearance for their transactions. He has also advised clients on behavioral aspects and represented client in antitrust litigation.

His experience covers several industry sectors, including energy, insurance, packaging, retail, and technology.


Mr. Ghai’s experience includes advising:

  • Facebook in its acquisition of GIPHY and related UK litigation before the Competition Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal
  • Authentic Brands Group in its pending acquisition of Reebok
  • A leading energy provider on the sale of its LNG assets
  • Helios Investment Partners, TA Associates, and minority shareholders on the sale of a significant minority stake in Interswitch to Visa
  • iZettle in relation to its sale to Paypal Holdings
  • KKR in relation to the CMA’s investigation into its acquisition of OverDrive
  • Rowan Companies in relation to the CMA’s investigation into its merger with Ensco
  • Electro Rent Corporation in relation to the UK merger filing for its acquisition of Microlease and the subsequent appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal
  • The sellers on the disposal of Method and Ecover global consumer products businesses to US private company SC Johnson
  • RPC Group in its joint acquisition of British Polythene Industries, a UK-based manufacturer of polyethylene film products, sacks, and bags
  • A major airline in civil claims in the English High Court for damages in the global Air Cargo cartel
  • A major insurance company in relation to its global competition compliance and training program
