Dana Shank is a healthcare transactional and regulatory attorney in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins. Her practice focuses primarily on representing hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, medical groups and other health care and life sciences companies in connection with a broad variety of complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other affiliations.
Dana has worked with clients that include some of the country’s largest healthcare systems and has substantial experience advising hospitals and health systems in structuring and implementing complex business transactions. She regularly advises clients regarding hospital-physician affiliations, medical foundations, accountable care organizations and other provider affiliation models, as well as federal and state laws affecting health care and life sciences companies, including federal and state anti-kickback/self-referral laws and privacy and security laws.
Prior to attending law school, Dana was a Senior Associate with Triage Consulting Group where she specialized in healthcare reimbursement counseling. During law school at Stanford University, Dana worked as a research assistant for Professor Cass Sunstein and as a legal assistant for a patent prosecution firm.
