Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce the launch of its Global Merger RegimesTM Application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod. From Albania to Zambia, and everywhere in between, including the most active antitrust enforcement jurisdictions, the Application (app) provides a database of merger regimes of more than 80 countries. This information is important in the M&A planning process, as transactions may require approval from competition authorities around the world.

“Given the global scope of many buyers’ and sellers’ businesses, as well as opportunistic purchases of national-scope businesses in far-flung jurisdictions, knowing where a deal faces merger control hurdles as early in the deal process as possible helps transaction parties develop a fast and efficient clearance strategy and meet their closing target," commented Michael Egge, Co-chair of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice Group.

The Global Merger RegimesTM app provides corporate business development teams and their in-house M&A and regulatory counsel with useful information on notification thresholds contained in competition laws and regulations worldwide into a simple, useable platform. Drawing on the depth of knowledge and experience within Latham's Global Antitrust and Competition Practice Group, the app includes merger review thresholds, timeline to clearance, potential fines and the substantive test in each jurisdiction.

“The app aggregates salient merger clearance information in an efficient and streamlined way,” said Susanne Zuehlke, a competition partner in Latham & Watkins’ Brussels office and project lead. "The app puts key information from more than 80 jurisdictions at the fingertips of busy executives. It is designed to allow quick access to topline information as well as key links to the websites of the respective national competition authorities.”

"Latham's lawyers, along with its Technology Department, are committed to developing efficient business tools for clients to make their working lives easier. The Global Merger RegimesTM app is the latest in a series of tools designed by Latham to meet client's business needs," said Ken Heaps, Chief Information Officer.

Latham & Watkins has a leading antitrust & competition practice with more than 130 lawyers located across three continents, serving the M&A regulatory needs of cross-border businesses.

The Global Merger RegimesTM app is available as a free download on the iTunes App Store and can be used on Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices, where it can be found by searching “Latham” or “Global Merger Regimes.”
