The Technology Department of Latham & Watkins, led by Chief Information Officer Kenneth Heaps, was recognized as “IT Team of the Year” by the Los Angeles Business Journal at its annual CIO of the Year 2012 Awards. Heaps and the team were cited for “strong leadership in evolving and scaling the Technology Department and its services to match the growth, strategies and infrastructure of the firm.” In particular, the team was acknowledged for practice support initiatives that enhance the ability of attorneys to advise clients and manage matters in innovative and effective way, with the LABJ noting that “as a result, the firm and its legal professionals have been provided with technology tools and services that enhance client service and provide competitive advantages.” The Technology Department was also noted for its high degree of technical expertise, a collegial and collaborative work environment, and the reliability and global scale of its services within the firm.
