Latham & Watkins’ banking practice earned 12 Top 3 rankings for leveraged finance and acquisition finance loan activity, measured by both number of deals and deal value, in the year end 2012 Thomson Reuters LPC US Syndicated Loan Survey. Latham was awarded the coveted #1 ranking for overall representation of both borrowers and lenders in acquisition finance by number of deals, with 46 deals valued at approximately $32 billion. The firm gained significant market share in acquisition finance on the borrower-side, ranking #2 by number of deals, with 18 closed transactions valued at $7.5 billion. On the lender-side, Latham placed #2 for acquisition finance by both number of deals and by volume, with 28 closed transactions valued at $24.5 billion. The firm also continued to dominate the leveraged finance rankings, ranking in the Top 3 of all leveraged finance categories, with 123 closed leveraged finance transactions valued at $69.5 billion. Overall, the firm closed an impressive 152 deals valued at approximately $89.4 billion in 2012.
