Barcelona
Latham's Madrid and Barcelona office are two of the firm's newest offices. Our Spanish practice group regularly participates in a wide range of corporate transactions, tax and regulatory matters on behalf of Spanish and international companies, private equity sponsors and financial institutions. Barcelona is one of Spain's largest industrial centers and a major hub for the import and export of goods from Spain. Our presence in Barcelona has enabled Latham's Spanish offices to get involved in some of the largest and most complex cross-border deals with a Spanish component.
Practice Areas
Our Spanish practice, which is primarily focused on M&A and private equity, leveraged finance, tax, administrative and regulatory and EU and Competition Law, plays a critical role in Latham's ability to service clients in Europe and around the globe. In addition, our Spanish team works closely with the firm's Latin American practice group to facilitate transactions by our Spanish and European clients throughout Latin America.
Lawyers in our Spanish practice represent Spanish entities on cross-border matters, as well as act for European and US organizations conducting business in Spain. Our Barcelona-based lawyers have a history of representing both Spanish clients and non-Spanish clients with Spanish interests in complex M&A and private equity transactions, as well as in leveraged financings and in administrative, tax and competition.
Our Barcelona-based attorneys maintain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of industries and a strong understanding of the economic and regulatory environments in which they operate. Our clients span most industry and financial sectors, including banking, energy, telecommunications, water, automotive and real estate.
Many of our global practices have garnered awards from a wide variety of publications. Among others, in 2007 the firm was awarded “Law Firm of the Decade” by leading legal publication, Legal Business, and in 2008 Latham was named the “2008 Private Equity Law Firm of the Year” by JUVE.
