Silicon ValleySV Outside v2

Established in 1997, the Silicon Valley office has grown to nearly 100 attorneys and serves as the hub of our Emerging Companies Practice Group. The office provides clients with cutting-edge legal insight and critical business advice to help them succeed in today's highly competitive, global marketplace. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley's technology and venture capital community, our attorneys leverage our global expertise to provide counsel to companies ranging from mature, established corporations to venture-backed start-ups that will be the industry leaders of the future.

Practice Areas

The lawyers in the Silicon Valley office provide experienced counsel in a wide range of specialties representing a diverse client base. In addition to handling the day-to-day legal issues facing both public and private companies, our corporate team offers substantial expertise in the areas of public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private equity, venture capital investments, intellectual property and technology transactions, licensing, outsourcing, strategic business alliances, and compensation and benefits. Our litigation team offers strong experience in intellectual property disputes, securities litigation, corporate investigations, white collar crime and other large commercial litigations.

Our client base includes both Silicon Valley-based companies and multinational corporations, including companies based in India, China, Japan, Europe and the Middle East. Our attorneys represent life sciences, technology and cleantech companies, venture capital and private equity firms, and investment banks, among others. Our clients come from a variety of industries, including biotechnology, alternative energy, communications, hardware, consumer products, data storage and security, e-commerce, entertainment and multimedia, internet, medical device, networks and infrastructure, semiconductors, software and wireless.

Community Ties

The Silicon Valley office has made a strong commitment to serve our local, statewide, national and global communities. Locally, our attorneys routinely handle a variety of pro bono matters in the areas of domestic violence, immigration, guardianship and consumer law, among many other areas, in an effort to provide high quality legal services to individuals and organizations living or based in the Bay Area who would not otherwise be able to afford to pay for our services. Representative pro bono matters include the filing of VAWA immigration self-petitions and applications for U-Visa relief on behalf of abused spouses; the representation of abused spouses in domestic violence cases; the filing of guardianship petitions; and the representation of individuals who are seeking asylum in the United States.

In addition, our attorneys are engaged on miscellaneous other pro bono matters for the purpose of serving our communities statewide, nationally and globally as well.  For example, we are currently spearheading investigations and litigation to reform the juvenile hall system in various California counties. On the national level, we are advocating on behalf of a military veteran in his effort to receive compensation from the US Department of Veterans Affairs for a military service-related disability.  We also are contributing our expertise to an initiative that is focused on promoting the health and welfare of Vietnamese orphans by helping the initiative qualify for 501(c)(3) status.

In 2008, the Pro Bono Project of Silicon Valley awarded the Silicon Valley office its Foundation Award for work its attorneys have done with clients in its Domestic Violence Limited Scope Representation Program.
