M. Adel Aslani-Far is a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and Global Co-Chair of the Firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Mr. Aslani-Far’s practice focuses on mergers, tender and exchange offers, stock and asset acquisitions, strategic investments, recapitalizations and joint ventures. He has substantial experience in negotiated and hostile public M&A transactions and in a broad range of private M&A transactions representing large multinational companies and private equity firms and has advised numerous special committees of boards of directors. He also regularly counsels clients on corporate governance and takeover defense.
Recent matters include advising Eli Lilly and Company in numerous acquisitions, including those of ImClone Systems Incorporated, ICOS Corporation, Monsanto Company’s animal health business, an equity investment in United Therapeutics Corporation and the EC–mandated divestiture of a European animal health products portfolio of Pfizer and Wyeth; as well as advising Qatar Investment Authority in its strategic alliance with NYSE Euronext to develop an integrated cash and derivatives exchange in Qatar.
Chambers and Partners has recognized Mr. Aslani-Far as a leading M&A lawyer in its US guide for each of the past five years, noting that he“is a rising star: according to clients, he is ‘creative in trying to solve problems,’ and particularly effective when ‘the other side is being especially difficult.’” Mr. Aslani-Far also was selected by The New York Times in 2007 as one of the leading dealmakers on Wall Street under the age of 40.
