Judith A. Hasko is a partner in the corporate department of Latham & Watkins Silicon Valley office. Ms. Hasko's practice focuses on representing companies developing biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic products, and investors in such companies, in a wide range of technology-based commercial transactions. She has advised such clients for over 15 years in connection with their domestic and international corporate partnering, joint venture, asset purchase, spin-out, licensing, distribution, manufacturing, co-development, profit-sharing and co-promotion matters.
Ms. Hasko's representative transactions include advising OncoMed in its collaboration with Bayer Schering Pharma, valued at more than $1 billion; MAP Pharmaceuticals in its $900 million co-development and co-promotion agreement with AstraZeneca; Corgentech in its co-development, co-promotion and profit-sharing agreement with Bristol-Myers relating to a phase 3 cardiovascular disease treatment, potentially worth more than $550 million; Tularik in its collaborations and licenses with companies such as Eli Lilly & Co, Japan Tobacco and Amgen; Nektar Therapeutics in its agreement with Bayer HealthCare to develop and commercialize NKTR-061, an inhaled amikacin for the treatment of pneumonias, which may yield up to $175 million in payments to Nektar; and numerous other clients including CV Therapeutics, Abgenix and Gilead in various strategic transactions. She joined Latham & Watkins from the Palo Alto office of Cooley Godward LLP, where she was a partner in the firm's life sciences practice since 2001.
Prior to attending law school, she worked at Genentech Inc. in the company's cardiovascular research department. Ms. Hasko has coauthored several scientific publications in the areas of sensory and cardiovascular biology.
Ms. Hasko is qualified to practice before the California bar and admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP).
Ms. Hasko has been recognized in Chambers and Partners’ USA 2010 Guide for her life sciences work and noted as a leading attorney for life sciences commercial and partnering transactions in Practical Law Company’s Which Lawyer? category. She is a frequent lecturer and speaker on life sciences commercial transactions at industry conferences and seminars, as well as at academic institutions, including the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford University.
